United, Union Reach Tentative Agreement For Technicians

September 30, 2016

United Airlines and the union representing its technicians have reached a tentative agreement on a collective bargaining contract.

The six year deal, covering over 9,000 technicians at United, will now be put to members of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters for ratification.

If approved, the technicians will be the final union group to agree a joint contract since the United/Continental merger in 2010.

"This tentative agreement represents the biggest wage and benefit package for airline technicians in the history of union contracts," Teamsters Airline Division director Captain David Bourne said.

Details about the member ballot have still to be announced.
