United Fined Over Treatment Of Disabled, Tarmac Delays

January 7, 2016

The US Transportation Department has fined United Airlines USD$2.75 million for breaking rules protecting passengers with disabilities, and prohibiting long tarmac delays.

The airline was also ordered not to break those rules in future, the department said in a statement.

"It is our duty to ensure that travellers with disabilities have access to the services they need, and that when significant tarmac delays happen, travellers are not left on the plane," US Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx said.
