A Southwest Airlines flight at Louisville Airport in Kentucky had to be evacuated on Wednesday morning after a Samsung Galaxy Note 7 caught fire.
The flight to Baltimore was evacuated before take-off after the Note 7 started smoking. All passengers and crew disembarked safely.
Samsung said they would investigate the circumstances of the phone that caught fire.
Samsung announced a global recall of the Note 7, with over 2 million phones sold before September 15, 2016 to be recalled.
The US FAA last month advised passengers not to use or charge their Note 7s on board aircraft.
Only last week India’s civil aviation authority lifted restrictions on the use of replacement Samsung Galaxy Note 7s on commercial aircraft.
