Nigeria Delays Abuja Airport Runway Work

January 3, 2017

Nigeria has announced a change to its plans to close the capital Abuja’s Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport.

The original six week closure was planned to start in February, but that has been delayed and will now start on March 8, the aviation ministry said.

Abuja flights will use the smaller Kaduna Airport while the main airport is closed.

The closure is to allow extensive runway repairs which will last for six months, the government said. The airport will continue operating during the repairs for all but the announced six week closure.
