Mauritius Debris Is From MH370 - ATSB

October 7, 2016

Australia’s ATSB has confirmed that a piece of debris found on Mauritius was from Malaysia Airlines flight MH370.

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau said in an update that the item of composite debris was recovered on Mauritius around May 10, 2016.

An identification number on the debris identified it as part of the rear spar assembly of a Boeing 777 left outboard flap.

“The item profile was consistent with the trailing edge of an aircraft wing,” the report said.

Manufacturer records indicated that the identifier was a unique work order number which corresponded to the Boeing 777 operating as MH370.

MH370 disappeared in March 2014 with 239 passengers and crew on board after taking off from Kuala Lumpur bound for Beijing.

A search for the Boeing 777 has been going on in the Indian Ocean for more than two years but no sign of the main wreckage has been found.
