Lufthansa Pilot Union Seeks Clarity On Pay Offer

December 1, 2016

Lufthansa’s pilot union Vereinigung Cockpit has requested clarification of the airline’s latest pay offer.

Lufthansa last Friday offered a 4.4 percent increase in two stages and a one-off payment, but VC turned it down. The latest offer maintains the financial terms but drops Lufthansa’s demands for extended pilot working hours.

The current offer would increase pay by 2.4 percent for 2016 and 2.0 percent in 2017, and provide a one-off payment equivalent to 1.8 months salary. The offer is not linked to any other terms or conditions, the airline said.

VC has requested Lufthansa to provide a “reliable and clear offer in order to be able to assess the resumption of negotiations, possibly involving a conciliator.”

Lufthansa has cancelled 4,450 flights over a series of six 24-hour strikes, with over half a million passengers affected.
