LAX Police Say Reports Of Gunfire A False Alarm

August 29, 2016

Reports of gunfire at Los Angeles Airport turned out to be a false alarm after terminals were evacuated on Sunday night.

The airport police tweeted that no shots were fired. “Report of shooting at LAX proven to be Loud Noises only No Shots Fired No Injuries, investigation continues to locate source.”

Police said that the central terminal area is open, but delays should be expected due to heavy congestion.

Around the time of the terminal evacuation a man in a Zorro costume was arrested by police. It is not clear whether he had anything to do with the noises that caused the false alarm.

The airport said on Twitter that “all terminals have been cleared and passengers are proceeding through federal security screening in all terminals.”
