John Menzies To Buy BBA Aviation Unit

September 16, 2016

Aviation services group John Menzies has reached an agreement to buy BBA Aviation’s ASIG unit.

John Menzies will buy the company for USD$202 million in a deal that is expected to close towards the end of the year.

ASIG has operations in 88 locations in seven countries, providing aircraft fuel and fuel farm management, and ground handling operations. For the year to December 2015, ASIG made USD$415.8 million in revenue.

“After receiving a number of approaches and going through a detailed process, we are pleased to announce the sale of ASIG to Menzies to create a focused and larger, broad based global supplier of commercial aviation services,” BBA Aviation chief executive Simon Pryce said.

Menzies chairman Dermot Smurfit said the deal would “significantly increase Menzies Aviation’s footprint globally… The transaction will create one of the largest aviation services businesses in the world, doubling the size of our North American operations.”
