Fraport Sees Drop In Frankfurt Passenger Numbers

August 4, 2016

Fraport said a 1.7 percent drop in earnings (EBITDA) to EUR€378.4 million in the first six months of 2016 was partly due to a slowdown in passenger traffic at Frankfurt Airport and the corresponding drop in retail revenues.

Total revenue in the first half was just over EUR€1.22 billion, down from the EUR€1.24 billion achieved in the same period of 2015.

Passenger numbers at the group’s flagship Frankfurt Airport were down 0.9 percent to 28.7 million in the six months.

Executive chairman, Dr Stefan Schulte said: “With air traffic being negatively impacted by geopolitical circumstances, several of our Group airports experienced significant traffic declines.”

Fraport’s executive board revised its passenger forecast for Frankfurt and is now expecting a slight drop in passenger traffic from the previous forecast of a rise of between 1 and 3 percent.

Dr Schulte reconfirmed the group’s financial target for the full year.
