Emirates Plane Catches Fire After Emergency Landing

An Emirates flight from India caught fire after making an emergency landing at Dubai Airport, all 300 people on board escaped from the burning plane.

Emirates said on its website that there were no fatalities and all passengers and crew are accounted for and safe.

The Boeing 777-300, flight EK521, was flying from Thiruvananthapuram in India to Dubai.

The Aviation Herald reported that on approach to Dubai the aircraft attempted to abort the landing, but after retracting the undercarriage touched down on the runway and burst into flames.

Photographs posted on social media showed black smoke coming from the plane, with no landing gear visible.

Arrivals and departures at Dubai Airport had been suspended, but the airport tweeted that flights resume at 18:30 local time with larger aircraft given priority.
