Dubai Airport Airspace Closes Due To Drone

September 28, 2016

Dubai International Airport closed its airspace for half an hour on Wednesday morning after a drone entered the area.

The airport said airspace was closed from 08:08 to 08:35, with a full resumption of flights at 09:07.

The ‘unauthorised drone activity’ caused flight disruptions during and after the incident.

“Dubai Airports reminds all UAV operators that any and all activities are not permitted unless authorised by regulatory authorities and are strictly prohibited in restricted areas including within 5 km (3 miles) of any airport or landing area”, the airport said in a statement.

Dubai Airport was also closed for more than an hour in June due to a drone incursion.
