Bergamo Airport Reopens After Cargo Plane Incident

August 5, 2016

Italian airport Bergamo Orio al Serio has reopened after a DHL cargo plane overshot the runway and landed on a road.

The incident happened at 04:07 local time when the DHL Boeing 737-400 freighter, flying from Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, slid off the runway and through the airport fence.

The two pilots on board escaped unharmed.

Orio al Serio reopened just before 07:00, although Italy’s National Agency for Civil Aviation said some flights had been rescheduled and were using Milan Malpensa airport.
