ATR's Deliveries And Orders Dipped In 2015
January 21, 2016
Regional turboprop plane-maker ATR delivered 88 planes last year, two short of its target, and received 76 firm orders.
ATR had a target of 90 orders for the year, and blamed the short fall on low fuel prices. It also said it received 81 options on planes, for a total of 157 orders.
The company said it is targeting more than 90 deliveries and about 100 orders this year.
ATR's light propeller planes, which can carry 50 to 90 passengers, consume less fuel than jet aircraft, so its sales tend to be strong when fuel prices are high. But they tend to be lower when fuel prices are down.
The company said its 2015 sales rose to USD$2 billion from USD$1.8 billion in 2014.
Its order book stands at 260 aircraft, with a total estimated value of about USD$6.6 billion, down from 280 planes in 2014.
