American Airlines, Unions Agree Ground Staff Pay Deal

August 7, 2016

American Airlines and the TWU-IAM Association union alliance have agreed an interim deal that will increase wages for 30,000 ground staff.

The pay increases will go into effect immediately, the airline said in a statement.

The interim agreement provides average pay increases ranging from 15 to 36 percent for maintenance employees to 55 percent for weight and balance planners.

The airline said the increases will give employees the highest hourly wage rates amongst their peers at other network carriers.

The TWU-IAM Association is an alliance between the Transport Workers Union (TWU) and the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM).
