Thailand Raises 2017 Tourism Revenue Target

January 10, 2017

Thailand’s Tourism Ministry has raised its target for tourism revenue for 2017 to THB 2.71 trillion baht (USD$76.1 billion), up 8.2 percent from 2016.

Income from foreign tourists is expected to hit THB1.78 trillion baht, a projected increase of 8.5 percent from 2016. Domestic tourism is expected to earn THB930 billion baht, a 7.5 percent lift from the previous year.

Thailand expects tourist numbers for 2016 to have risen 9 percent to 32.6 million. This comes after the strong 20 percent increase in 2015 as tourism recovered from the 2014 military coup.
