Saudia Manila Hijack Alert A False Alarm

September 20, 2016

A Saudi Arabian Airlines flight to the Philippines was surrounded by police at Manila Airport after the pilots sent an alert that it was “under threat”.

Saudia’s flight 872 from Jeddah to Manila parked in an isolated area of the airport, but passengers were not allowed to leave the aircraft for two hours.

Authorities later said the flight crew had activated an alarm by mistake causing the false hijack alert.

The airline tweeted that the incident was a false alarm and the situation was back to normal.
