JetBlue Profit Up 18 Pct On Lower Fuel Costs

JetBlue Airways’ quarterly profit rose 18.4 percent as the US budget airline continued to benefit from lower fuel costs.

The New York-based carrier’s net income rose to USD$180 million in the second quarter ended June 30, from USD$152 million a year earlier.

JetBlue paid USD$1.43 per gallon on average in the quarter, down 33 percent from a year ago.

However, revenue per available seat mile fell 8.2 percent.
