Frankfurt's Terminal 1 was evacuated and about 100 flights cancelled.

Police searched the area but nothing suspicious was found and passengers were allowed back into the building.

“From 12.30 pm, the Concourse will be reopened, with operations resuming in a phased and coordinated way. Passengers departing from FRA today are advised to check the status of their flight online with their airline und to allow extra time for their journey,” the airport said.

Frankfurt airport is Europe’s fourth busiest with over 61 million passengers using it in 2015.
