Arik Air To Resume Operations

September 14, 2016

Nigerian carrier Arik Air said it was restarting flight operations from Wednesday morning after suspending them on Tuesday.

Airlines operating in Nigeria have had difficulty buying aviation fuel as a drop in the local naira currency has caused a fuel shortage.

Local media also reported that Arik had changed its insurance company.

Arik said in a statement that customers should “discountenance the disparaging allegations, unsubstantiated and uninformed claims about the airline’s inability to meet its financial obligations to aviation fuel marketers and a purported withdrawal of insurance services”.

Arik flies to destinations across Africa and to London and New York.
