Lufthansa may order about 30 of Airbus's new more fuel-efficient A320neo aircraft in a deal worth some USD$2.5 billion at list prices, Bloomberg said, citing people with knowledge of the matter.

Negotiations between Europe's second-largest airline and the plane maker may be completed within a month, the agency said.

Lufthansa is one of the airlines which has publicly backed Airbus's plans, unveiled in December, to upgrade its A320 jet with state-of-the-art engines offering 15 percent fuel savings.
