Lufthansa To Raise 2011 Capacity
Lufthansa will offer 6-10 percent more seats on its planes next year as it phases out small aircraft on European routes and adds A380 superjumbos on long-haul routes, its finance chief said.
"As of the winter flight timetable for 2010 we are flying four Airbus A380s at Lufthansa with full capacity as well as the new A330 at Swiss," Stephan Gemkow said on Thursday.
"The successive renewal of the fleet with larger and more fuel-efficient aircraft types automatically leads to an increase in seating capacity."
The carrier on Wednesday raised its 2010 outlook as it posted consensus-beating earnings for the first nine months of the year.
