Budget airline Norwegian Air Shuttle said on Thursday that its subsidiary FlyNordic would be re-branded as Norwegian from April 5 to create a unified profile, boost the Norwegian brand and cut costs.

Norwegian, a small rival to Scandinavian airline SAS, acquired Swedish carrier FlyNordic from Finland's Finnair last year.

"The company will offer a common service concept and booking system," Norwegian said. "A single brand is furthermore significantly more cost-effective than two."
