Vietnam's Bamboo Airways Gets Government Go-ahead

July 10, 2018

The Vietnamese government has approved the establishment of Bamboo Airways after the airline completed all necessary legal procedures.

The airline’s owners, FLC Group, said Bamboo will be a ‘hybrid’ airline, combining traditional and low cost models, offering five-star service on all flights.

FLC Group and Bamboo Airways signed a purchase agreement for 24 Airbus A321neos in March 2018, and 20 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners last month.

FLC chairman Trinh Van Quyet said the group’s long-term vision is to connect Vietnam to key markets in Asia, Europe and North America.

Based at Quy Nhon’s Phu Cat Airport, Bamboo is aiming to launch domestic flights in late 2018 or early 2019.
