March 16, 2017

The Swedish government said it will propose a tax on airline tickets in a move aimed at countering greenhouse gas emissions.

The tax would start at SEK80 kronor (USD$9) for short flights, and rise to up to SEK430 (USD$48) for longer distances.

The proposal is expected to be included in the 2018 budget and start from January 1, 2018.
