ANA To Cancel Some 787 Flights

August 26, 2016

Japan’s All Nippon Airways will cancel nine domestic Boeing 787 Dreamliner flights on Friday as it fixes problems with the aircraft’s Rolls-Royce engines.

ANA said it would cancel around 300 flights in total in September as it replaces engine parts on some of its 787 fleet.

The Japanese carrier is the biggest 787 operator with 50 aircraft delivered.

The problem with the Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 engines is due to corrosion of some compressor blades, which may be linked to the airline’s use of the 787 on short-haul routes.

Rolls-Royce said it was working with ANA to minimise service disruption. It said the issue was limited to only part of the ANA Dreamliner fleet.
