Virgin America Receives Takeover Offers - Reports

March 28, 2016

Virgin America has received takeover interest from several companies, including JetBlue Airways and Alaska Air, according to a media report.

Asian airline companies have also expressed interest in Virgin America, although they would have to partner with a US bidder because of foreign ownership rules governing US airlines, Reuters quoted a person familiar with the matter as saying.

Bloomberg reported earlier that Virgin America had received takeover offers from JetBlue and Alaska Air.

The person was not identified because the sale process is confidential.

America went public in November 2014 and now has a market cap of USD$1.37 billion.
