African airline Fastjet is to introduce cargo services on its flights.
The London-listed airline signed an agreement with BidAir, one of Africa's largest cargo operators to carry cargo on its fleet.
Airline management said they expected the service to provide an additional revenue stream for the business.
Fastjet said its passenger revenue in August was USD$2.7 million, up 5 percent on its July revenue and 51 percent higher than its August 2012 revenue.
Ed Winter, chairman and chief executive said: "Operational statistics for August show continued growth, demonstrating the strength of our brand and the support we are receiving from the Tanzanian population.
"So far we have carried 260,000 passengers within Tanzania and with a total population of 48 million there are plenty more customers who can benefit from our services.
The airline recently announced it would launch a new domestic route in Tanzania, between Dar es Salaam and Mbeya.
