Two AMR Unions Ready To Resume Talks

Two unions at American Airlines have said they are willing to resume talks over new contracts, according to a report in The Wall Street Journal.

The development comes just days before a US bankruptcy judge is expected to rule on labor savings at the airline’s parent company AMR.

The newspaper reported that two bargaining units of the Transport Workers Union – representing mechanics and stores clerks - who rejected AMR's proposals in mid May are seeking to re-start talks.

Meanwhile the leaders of a third union representing American Airlines pilots are meeting to decide whether to put the airline's latest offer out to a membership vote.
