El Al Increases Fuel Surcharges Again

Flag carrier El Al is raising fuel surcharges by up to USD$23 per journey, effective October 29, in response to rising oil prices.

El Al said on Thursday fuel charges would rise USD$10 per leg for short-haul flights, USD$17 for medium-haul and USD$23 for long-haul routes. The charges will not apply to tickets bought with frequent flier miles.

El Al had raised fuel charges by USD$25 per flight in May when oil prices reached USD$60 a barrel.

Last year, El Al increased fuel charges numerous times when oil reached USD$145 a barrel. They fell sharply in January when oil prices plunged.
