Bombardier Cancels MyAir Order For 15 Jets

Bombardier said on Tuesday that it has canceled its firm order purchase agreement with Italian low cost carrier MyAir for 15 CRJ1000 regional jets.

Bombardier said the decision comes as MyAir, which recently had its license suspended by Italian aviation authorities, is facing "an uncertain situation." Four CRJ900 aircraft have been delivered to the airline, the Montreal-based company said.

Bombardier said it still has 49 firm orders for the CRJ1000 NextGen jet.

The airline industry has suffered from a sharp slowdown during the recession. Bombardier announced in April it would lay off 3,000 employees to adjust to the falling demand for new aircraft. Those layoffs came on top of nearly 1,400 job cuts earlier in the year.
