Rolls-Royce secured USD$2.1 billion in new orders at the Paris Air Show Monday, showing the engine maker is still winning business despite the industry downturn.
The company said in a string of statements that its engines will power planes belonging to Middle East carriers Gulf Air and Qatar Airlines, as well as Germany's Condor, and Royal China.
Gulf Air delivered the bulk of the order, signing a USD$1.5 billion deal for engines to power 20 Airbus A330 planes, with delivery to begin in 2012.
Qatar and Royal China both agreed USD$230 million orders, also for Airbus planes.
And Rolls Royce reported a five-year extension to its TotalCare long-term contract with German carrier Condor Airlines worth around USD$150 million.
