Australia's Qantas Airways has raised AUD$500 million (USD$323 million) by selling new shares to institutional investors, two fund managers familiar with the sale said on Thursday.

The new shares were sold at AUD$1.85 each, a 19.2 percent discount to its last traded price. The new shares were offered in an AUD$1.80-AUD$1.95 per share range.
