Airports Of Thailand Q2 Profit Trebles

Airports of Thailand (AOT), the country's main airport operator, more than trebled its quarterly net profit, sending its shares to a one-month high.

Majority state-owned AOT, which runs six airports, said on Thursday, net profit jumped to THB3.16 billion baht (USD$97 million), or 2.21 baht per share, in the second quarter to March 31, up from THB839 million in the year-ago period.

AOT's second quarter revenues included a THB3.03 billion compensation paid by a duty-free operator King Power after the airport operator won a court case over the space contract in Suvarnabhumi Airport.

However, the firm booked a foreign exchange loss of THB624 million against a gain of THB536 million it made in the same period a year earlier.
