General Electric said on Wednesday that LCAL, a Dubai-based aircraft leasing company, has agreed to buy GEnx jet engines to power up to 13 of its aircraft.
The engines, with a list price of more than USD$350 million in total, would power Boeing 787 aircraft, GE Aviation said.
GE competes with Britain's Rolls-Royce in producing engines for the forthcoming 787 Dreamliner. The launch of the plane is running about 15 months behind schedule. It was slated to launch in May 2008.
GE's aviation unit last year earned USD$3.2 billion on USD$16.8 billion in revenue.
