Olympic Jet Lands In Munich After Bomb Threat

An Olympic Airways plane carrying Greek EU officials made an emergency landing at Munich Airport in Germany on Monday after a bomb threat was made, a spokeswoman for the German air traffic control authority said.

"There was a bomb threat and so the plane has landed in Munich at 1045 local time," a spokeswoman for Deutsche Flugsicherung said.

The plane from Athens was flying to Brussels via Strasbourg.

All 136 passengers, including 11 Greek Euro MPs, are being safely evacuated, Greek state television reported. Greek police officials are saying threat was most likely a hoax, television said.

"I hope this is just a bad joke," Greek Foreign Ministry spokesman George Koumoutsakos told Greek state television. "It will soon be over, I hope."
