Brazilian jet maker Embraer said on Monday it agreed to sell six Embraer 170 jets to EgyptAir in a deal worth USD$165 million at list prices.
Embraer, the world's fourth-largest manufacturer of commercial aircraft, said in a statement the deal also included an option to buy six more planes.
The first plane is due for delivery in April.
The planes, each seating 76 passengers, will be used by EgyptAir Express, a recently created unit of Egypt's national carrier.
A company spokesman said each Embraer 170 jet had a list price of USD$27.5 million. He would not say if that price was used in the deal.
Embraer has an order backlog of around USD$13 billion, recently boosted by a huge order of 100 jets from China's HNA Group, worth USD$2.7 billion in list prices.
