The soccer World Cup has led to a 2.5 percent rise in flights to Germany, where the event is being hosted, since it began on June 9, German air traffic control firm Deutsche Flugsicherung (DFS) said on Wednesday.
DFS said 4,400 additional flights had landed so far.
In total, 6,760 extra flights are registered for the month of the tournament, which ends on July 9, with the largest portion -- 1,183 -- heading to the German capital's Tempelhof Airport.
Berlin's three airports account for 1,881 of the extra World Cup flights. Munich Airport is welcoming 1,014 more.
Frankfurt Airport, the largest in Germany, is due to have 512 additional flights.
DFS added that it also expected more flights that had not been registered for landing slots yet.
