Air France KLM Passenger Traffic Up

Air France KLM's passenger traffic rose 7.8 percent in June, partly supported by a strong increase in traffic and capacity in the Americas, the world's largest airline by revenue said on Thursday.

Its load factor was 2.4 points higher in June, at 81.5 percent. Load factor is an indication of the proportion of seats an airline has filled on its flights.

In the Americas, traffic rose 11.2 percent and capacity 12 percent but the load factor slipped 0.7 points to 88.4 percent. Traffic in Asia grew 6 percent and the load factor was 3.3 points higher at 84.5 percent.

Air France KLM's European network remained buoyant, the company said, with 5.6 percent higher traffic and a load factor that rose 2.6 points to 75.2 percent.

"Cargo activity continued to suffer from the weakness of European exports," Air France KLM said. Cargo traffic fell 1.1 percent while capacity was up 4.3 percent. The load factor diminished 3.5 points to 64.7 percent.v
