Austrian Air Cuts Fuel Surcharges

Austrian Airlines Group said on Thursday it was cutting its fuel surcharges on all scheduled routes due to an easing in fuel prices.

Austrian introduced a surcharge in May of last year to counter the impact of rising oil prices on its fuel bill.

"Austrian Airlines Group is cutting its fuel surcharge... on all scheduled flights as of Jan. 17, 2005, due to a slight easing in the fuel market," Austrian said in a statement.

Austrian said it was cutting its surcharge on short- and medium-haul flights to 7 euros from 9 euros. Long-haul surcharges would be cut to 17 euros from 25, while charges on flights to and from Australia would fall to 22 euros from 28.
