TUI Considering TUIfly Sale To easyJet

September 23, 2016

European travel company TUI airline TUIfly could be up for sale soon with Britain’s easyJet a front runner to buy a stake.

TUI is looking at easyJet and another European airline as potential suitors as it contemplates scaling down its airline operations.

easyJet could go for TUIfly to maintain an EU operating certificate allowing freedom to operate anywhere in the bloc, after the UK’s vote to leave.

TUIfly supervisory board member Martin Locher said the company was also looking at a deal with a second European carrier, but did not name it.

easyJet declined to comment.
