Republic Airways Plans 1Q17 Bankruptcy Exit

November 17, 2016

Republic Airways, which filed for bankruptcy protection in February, plans to exit Chapter 11 in early 2017 under the name Republic Airline.

Republic said the plan of reorganisation was filed with the full support of the creditors committee.

Under Chapter 11 protection, Republic renegotiated and extended capacity purchase agreements with American, Delta and United, retired aircraft and restructured debt, it said in a statement.

“We have achieved each of the restructuring goals set at the onset of this case, while restoring our airline to a level of operational excellence unmatched in our industry,” Republic’s chief executive Bryan Bedford said.

Republic Airways owns Republic Airlines and Shuttle America, and operates flights under the American Eagle, Delta Connection and United Express brands.
