Poland In Talks To Sell LOT Airline Stake

August 3, 2016

Poland is in talks with Chinese investors over selling a stake in LOT Polish Airlines, Deputy Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said.

“LOT is our national carrier, which we are trying to save no matter the cost," Morawiecki said.

Polish national daily Rzeczpospolita earlier reported that Air China had expressed an interest in acquiring a 49 percent stake in LOT, citing airline sources.

The newspaper said Air China will meet the Polish treasury department later this week to discuss a possible buy-in.

A LOT spokesman said he had no knowledge of a “planned capital co-operation” between LOT and Air China.
