PIA Chairman Resigns After Crash

December 13, 2016

The chairman of Pakistan International Airlines has resigned after the crash of a PIA ATR-42 aircraft last week killed everybody onboard.

The airline has grounded its remaining ATR-42s while Pakistan’s Civil Aviation Authority conducts "shakedown tests" on the fleet.

The aircraft that crashed was reported to have suffered engine problems after takeoff from Chitral on a flight to Islamabad.

Reuters reported a PIA spokesperson as confirming the resignation which was due to personal reasons.
