Arik Air To Cancel Some Domestic Flights

November 17, 2016

Nigeria's Arik Air has announced a further reduction in its domestic flight operations as aviation fuel shortages continue.

Arik said the supply shortage, the fourth this year, affects it particularly because of the size of its domestic operations.

Depreciation of the Nigerian naira currency has made it difficult for airlines to source fuel there. Aviation fuel, priced in US dollars, is imported and shortages occur as suppliers ration the limited supply.

Arik said the reduction in flight frequencies would last until the supply situation eased. Flights would be cancelled in advance to reduce delays it added.
