ANA To Repair All 787 Rolls-Royce Engines

August 31, 2016

All Nippon Airways will repair the engines on all of its Boeing 787 Dreamliners according to a media report.

The Japanese carrier will replace faulty engine turbine blades Reuters reported.

ANA said in a statement this week that the issue was determined to be fatigue cracks in the blades of the engine’s intermediate pressure turbine. The cracks are the result of corrosion caused by chemical components in the atmosphere. The corrosion intensifies with the number of flight cycles.

ANA said in a flight update that due to some 787s undergoing engine inspection and maintenance, it would cancel a limited number of domestic flights in September.
